#4 in Calendar series (August) and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Hi Everybody!
Is everyone looking forward to the New Year?? I am expecting in January, so I am! I also would like to make this a year with more crafting. I don't know how realistic that is with a new baby, but I will give it my best! Well here is April, the next in the calendar series. I used Hannah Montana for the title, and the SUPER cute guitar at the bottom. Using glitter paper really helped keep it simple, but still provide the bling that I wanted. Please leave a comment!! TFL, and I wish everyone a happy, prosperous, and crafty New Year!

Super Cool New Gypsy Update!

Hi Everybody!

Did you all have a great/fantastic/get what you wanted (time with family, everything done, gift you wished for) Christmas?!! I had a great one. More on that another time. I really just wanted to do a quick post for any of you that have a gypsy. I happened to check for an update last night, and found that there was a new one from the 23rd. To my surprise, it included a photo app! So if you have a gypsy, check the Cricut message board for any pros and cons to the update, and any problems that have come up BEFORE you decide whether to do the update or not. I have not had any problems with my Gypsy at all, so I went ahead and did it. So far, it looks to me like you can only view your photos, but I just did the update last night. More updates as I play with this cool new app more! Hope everyone has a chance to craft today!!!!

#3 in Calendar series (July and November)

Hi Everybody!
So we are really down to the wire! I am sooooooooo excited to be putting the finishing touches on my calendars today. In past years I have been finishing them on Christmas Eve, so it's super nice this year that at least I won't be doing that! Since I hope most of you have already finished your crafting (wouldn't that be nice!!), I am posting these pages for inspiration. Enjoy! Details below:

July

  • Happily Ever After cart
  • fireworks outline (blue)
  • fireworks inside (silver)
  • Graphically Speaking cart
  • title

November

  • Paper Dolls cart
  • cornocopia
  • Animal Kingdom cart
  • Turkey
  • Wildcard cart
  • title
I cut the cornocopia in white, and then colored it with chalks so I could give it the dimension that I wanted. Then I added a pop dot on the back.
Hope everyone continues to have a great holiday season!

Holiday projects: SANTA CUPS, COCOA SLIDER CARD, VINYL ON PLATES AND CUPS

Hi Everybody!

So I know most of us have finished our projects, and are sitting calmly waiting for Christmas to arrive, right? No way!!! So in case any of you need any last minute quick ideas, here are 3 ideas for some VERY quick treats to put together. Enjoy!

PROJECT #1 -SANTA CUPS

Using the nut cup from the TBBM cart, and the Santa face from the Doodlecharms cart, these little treat boxes can easily be put together in minutes. The baskets were cut @ 5 1/4", and I think the Santa faces were cut @ 2 1/2 " (sorry, forgot to write those measurements down!).

I ran the pieces through my Xyron machine for even quicker assembly. The base for the Santa face has markings for where all the parts go, so there isn't any guesswork.

And 32 baskets later, you're done! Just toss in some shredded paper, and some candy, and you have some cute treats to pass out :)

PROJECT #2 - COCOA SLIDER CARD
First I need to thank and give credit to Robyn @ My Pink Stamper for this idea. She did a video on this, and it looked so easy, simple, and cute that I had to try it! And she was kind enough to let me share how my result of her project came out. Hope you like it!

The size of the base depends on how big of what you are putting inside. Here are the sizes for the card I made:

  • base = 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", score @ 2 1/2" and 6 1/2"
  • patterned paper = 8 1/2" x 3", score @ 2 1/2 " and 6 1/2"
  1. Lay cocoa envelope inside (not to snug as you will need it to slide in and out of the card)
  2. Apply patterned paper.
  3. Apply adhesive and close card.
  4. Punch hole at the top.
  5. Insert ribbon through hole.
  6. Put cocoa envelope through top of card OVER ribbon.
  7. Slide envelope down until you can't see it, then tie ribbon.
And now 22 envelopes later, you are finished!
PROJECT #3 - VINYL ON PLATES AND CUPS
I made these for my kids teachers Christmas presents. I made some pumpkin bread, added a cocoa slider card, and a mug with the teachers' names and since I already had all this stuff around the house, I didn't have to spend any money! Details:
  • When It's Cold Outside cart, and cut the Santa snowflake @ 5 1/2"
  • Winter Woodlands cart, and cut Seasons Greetings (forgot size :P)

Cut the same size snowflake onto a smaller plate.

I used Winter Woodlands font to cut the teachers names. I used When It's Cold Outside to cut a snowflake on each side of the name.

Don't forget to leave a comment! And I hope this helps provide some helpful last minute inspiration. Hope everyone has a great holiday!

#1 in Calendar Series (Feb., Mar., Apr.)

Hi Everybody!

Can you believe there is only about 17 days left until Christmas!?! This time of year seems to go by so fast. So every year for Christmas gifts, I make calendars so everyone can see what we've been up to all year. Sometimes I get lucky and find some of the premade, blank calendars at Target in the dollar section. This year they had some in 8x8 size. This saves a lot of time and money for me. So I will be posting my progress so that if any of you need any gift ideas, feel free to use these ones! I try to do them in order, but I don't always have the pictures I need ready right away. Here are the first 3 months I did:

This page is for the month of February.
  • Designer's Calendar cart
  • p.66, events function selected, the hat and balloon
  • Wildcard cart
  • p.61, phrase function selected, Happy Birthday title
  • alphabet function selected, created the letters for Happy Valentine's Day
  • p. 67, icon function selected, arrows with hearts
  • Celebrations cart
  • p. 23, border function selected, press shift, 1 with candle

For the month of March, we went to the zoo alot, so I went with that theme.
  • Animal Kingdom cart
  • p. 105, sound function selected, zoo title
  • p. 112, border function selected, lions
  • p. 102, head function selected, elephant head (traced with Cricut markers)
  • GYPSY TIP: After completing a cut, you will come to the screen that asks you to unload mat, add to design, or return to design. To trace a cut with a marker, you can select return to design. Delete every cut except the one you would like to trace with the marker. After changing the pressure and speed, go ahead and "cut" the design like normal.

Here is the page for April.
  • Designer's Calendar cart
  • p. 38, events feature selected, Easter
  • created letters for "Hoppy"
  • Gypsy Wandering
  • egg, bunny, and Happy Birthday
  • Graphically Speaking cart
  • arrows,
  • Plantain Schoolbook cart
  • grass

This project can be done in stages, and that makes it a looooot more do-able!

  1. print pictures
  2. select pictures for layout
  3. design simple layout
  4. decide which cuts/stickers you would like to use
  5. adhere to page

I did all of these as separate steps, and this made it so I could accomplish more when I did sit down to work on it. Ok, that's it for now. A video will be posted on my YouTube channel in the next couple of days (http://www.youtube.com/user/CrazyAboutCricut) if you would like to see a video for this project. If you subscribe to my channel, you will be notified when a new video is loaded. Thanks, and hope everyone had a chance to craft today!
