Cards TV Challenge

Hi Everybody!
Here's a quick card I made for the card challenge over at Cardz TV.  The challenge is to make a card with GASP! NO CRICUT!!  (Are you even allowed to do that??)  I really like this idea, and have more scrapping kits then I know what to do with, so I had plenty of supplies to choose from.  Here's what I came up with:

*border kit (had mulberry paper, wire for spider legs, and vellum for mat)

*I added the black, grey pattern, and glitter purple paper.
*Did some doodling with my white gel pen.
*scalloped corner punch

*Stamped a Peachy Keen face (Critter faces set-medium) with white ink.
*Inked the cheeks with red chalk.
*Used purple Stickles for eyes.
*Pink by Design "A Haunting We Will Go" stamp set

*Pink by Design "A Haunting We Will Go" stamp set again.

Hope you like it! I was glad to be able to use up some of my stash.  TFL, and hope everyone had a chance to craft today :)

Cricut Cardz Challenge #44

Hi Everybody!
Another great challenge going on over at Cricut Cardz Challenge !  This time we were to make a Halloween Z-fold or S-fold card using any carts or colors we wanted.  I was a bit nervous when I saw this was our challenge, since I haven't been making cards that long, and I've never done any folds other than folding in half!  I've never even done a gate fold or anything! So I went on YouTube and searched for how to make this type of card, and funny enough Mary's YouTube channel came up with a tutorial.  Here's what I came up with, and the details:

*All cuts from the Happy Haunting cartridge
*Used my Gypsy for sizing
*tree cut @ 4.25"
*ghost cut @ 3"
*grave cut @ 2 1/2"
*paper = Martha Stewart (base), DCWV (grave), Best Occassion Glitter Paper (ghost)

Here's what it looks like opened up.

*I used my white gel pen for the only kind of stitching I can do!
*I added bling for the eyes on the tree.

*I used the stamp set A Haunting We Will Go by Pink Cricut. (These stamps rock!!)
*I also added red Stickles on the drops of "blood".

*This cat sticker fit perfectly on the fence and added that perfect extra dimension.
*Also stitched on the fence.
*Added green Stickles to the grass.

Hope you like it! I was happy with how it came out, and would definitely make another card with this kind of fold.  So go make your own Z-fold or S-fold card and join us over at the Cricut Cardz Challenge!

Family Friday Design Team Call

Hi Everybody!
I am looking for a few designers to be part of my Family Friday Design Team.  There will be 4 designers, and each designer will be responsible for creating 2 projects a month.  You don't have to have kids to apply for the DT, but the projects will need to be something that is family oriented.  The projects can be about spending time together, something that kids can make, or something that can be made for a kid.  Anything that means family to you would be great, since there are different kinds of family. The deadline is October 8th, and I will announce the Design Team on October 9th.  All levels of crafters are totally welcome to apply, but you do need to have a Cricut.  Please e-mail me with 3-4 pictures of your favorite projects and the link to your blog at crazyaboutcricut@hotmail.com with Design Team in the subject line.  You can make something new if you want to, BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  Thank you!!

Welcome to the Halloween Hop!

Hi Everybody!

Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday and I every year I get so excited to decorate, get dressed up, and let's not forget the candy.....oh, all that delicious candy.....mmmmmmm :)  Ok, sorry, I have a bit of a sweet tooth :P  My kids love Halloween just as much as I do, which makes celebrating Halloween all that much better!  And I know in the future that they will have good Halloween memories.

I'm SO EXCITED to be hosting my first blog hop.  Thank you so much to the 9 other super talented ladies who agreed to do this hop with me! After you check out my ghoulish graves project, be sure to please become a follower, and leave a comment to be entered to win Gypsy Magic, the new DVD by Emma at My Creative Time.  Emma's DVD is really, really awsome and has some of the cutest projects ever!  She's also offering free shipping for a limited time.  The prize pack also includeds 2 embossing folders, the A2 size Disney Tricks and Treats Die/Emboss Combo, and A2 size Disney Halloween Die/Emboss Combo.    Now that's some candy!!

Ok, now on to the projects :)  For my first project, I made some grave stones to decorate your porch (for example) or somewhere outside.  Here's the recipe:

*All cuts made with the Happy Hauntings cartridge
*All graves were cut @ 17 1/4"
*Frankie title cut @ 16 1/2"
*M.T title and Willie cut @ 17"
*12 x 24 paper = Provo Craft, and K & Co
*Glo Away Glow in the Dark Gel by Plaid
*bling
*Stickles

I taped some dowels on the back, and just stuck them into the ground. I also taped posterboard to the back to make them more stable, and since it's on the back you can't see it.

I painted glow-in-the-dark paint on the letters, so they would give off an eeeeery glow at night! I was so bummed that I couldn't get this to show in a picture 'cause it looks so cool!

The raven is part of the base layer, so it was cut out on the patterned paper.  I layed it out on my gypsy so that it only cut out the raven, then attached it to the base layer.  I also taped a thin stick behind the raven to give him more stability.

For my second project, I made one of the skulls from the Rock Princess cartridge.  I really loved these skulls, because they didn't look like the traditional skulls.  I made this on the "baby bug".  So many of us have the Expression, and I want owners of the original Cricut to know that they can make these kinds of projects too.  I used my Gypsy, and I think the Gypsy goes fantastic with the little bug.  It really let's you get your cuts as big as possible, and get the most out of your paper.  Here's the recipe:

*Rock Princess cartridge
*skull cut @ 5 1/2"
*paper = Martha Stewart, DCWV
*Stickles
*bling

I didn't intend for this to go outside, but when I put the graves outside, the skull looked like it fit right in!  I decided to use Stickles instead of cutting out the layers.  You could make a bunch of these and make a creepy hanging creation, or just stick them up on your wall.

There you go, I hope you liked my projects!!  Don't forget, to be entered for the awsome blog candy:

  1. Become a follower (hopefully you already want to!)

  2. Leave a comment!

  3. Continue on the hop  :)

Family Friday

Hi Everybody!
This week I am getting ready for the Halloween Hop on Saturday, so I don't have a project for you, but I do have a favorite memory in the spirit of Family Friday:

"Ok, listen here tough guy.  I have 3 sisters, and I don't want you messing with them!"

"This guy's supposed to be tough??"

Memories like this is what makes me continue to craft and scrapbook.  I want to have something that the kids can look at when they are older and see what a close family we are and how much we love each other.  Put down the laundry, or vacuum (I know it might be hard.......), and go run through the sprinklers with your kids.  Have a waterballoon fight, or just play in the sandbox.  That's what everybody will remember.  Thanks and hope everyone has a chance to craft with/about the kids in your life today :)

Halloween Hop Highlight- SCRAPPIN' WITH KIMMY

Hi Everybody!

3 days left until the Halloween Hop! I'm so excited! The next blog in the countdown to the hop is SCRAPPIN' WITH KIMMY. Here's a little bit about Kimmy:

Hi, I'm Kimmy and I hope you can join me on my creative journey. For many years (over 10), my life was marked with turmoil and grief after the death of my 9-month old daughter. I thought I would never see the "old Kimmy" again. I once believed that part my spirit and soul had died with my darling Bailey. This may sound corny, but I truly believe the Cricut has brought me back to life! The old Kimmy is back and I'm a "born-again scrappy girl"! I started this blog to share this amazing journey. I hope that you can find personal and creative inspiration here! I have a lot planned for this blog and it means so much to me to be able to share the incredible, wonderful, amazing, beautiful, awful, tragic, painful, crazy rollercoaster ride that I have endured in order to get in the peaceful place I am today!

Kimmy's blog is fairly new, but her projects are awsome! She has a good vibe to her blog, and gives lots of inspiration.  Please go check out what she has going on, and then come back and join us for the hop!!  Thanks and hope everyone has a chance to craft today :)

Made By Momo Hubby Challenge

Hi Everybody!
Ok, this is officially my favorite challenge ever.  When I saw that Momo was having a Hubby challenge, I immediately looked over at my husband with the "please" look on my face.  And he said he would do it!!!  (But I don't think my "please" look had anything to do with it, he just loves a challenge!)  And boy did he ever come through.  I didn't help him at all!  Here's what he came up with using the card feature on Mini Monsters cartridge and my Gypsy:

I hope you all love it.  I made a little video that should be ready later today. I was sooooo impressed with him.  I'll be thanking him later..........sorry there are kids around :P  Anyway, great idea Momo!  I hope everyone has a chance to craft today :)

Halloween Hop Highlight- Pink Cricut

Hi Everybody!
4 days left until the Halloween Hop! Whoo hooo! The next blog in the countdown to the hop is Pink Cricut.   Here's a little bit about Sarah:

I have been a Stay-at-home Mom for almost 3 years now. Before, I “retired,” and became a stay-at-home-mom…I was a Special Education Teacher. I loved my job, but knew that my kids were going to grow up too fast!  I have learned a lot from my son and daughter these few years- and my time to create has dwindled. When I am not crafting, I am playing with the kids or crafting with them!  I started adding video to my blog in April of this year- and it has been so much fun. Although, it has been challenging to find a quiet spot away from kids- so, if you hear them in the background, it is because, they always want to be where Mom is. My family and I live in an awesome neighborhood, where a lot of the women get together to scrapbook together. We go from house to house, and always have a ton of fun! We even get together to exercise during the week! I love to shop, and find good deals- So, you will also see a few, “HAUL” videos mixed in with tutorials and projects! But, I promise I will always tell you where to find the good deals!! Thank you to all of you who have chosen to take time out of your day, to see my creations! It makes me really happy, to be able to share my “work” with you! If you ever have a question, or something you would like to see, don’t hesitate to ask me! I love hearing from you!

Sarah has been VERY busy lately, and getting bigger and bigger in the crafting world.  She has her own stamp line, DVD's, makes videos, has her own sports center......oh wait, not that last one :P  She is a nice helpful person who really believes in the crafting community.  Please go check out what she has going on, and then come back and join us for the hop!!  (Button made by Sarah .)  Thanks, and hope everyone had a chance to craft today :)

Cricut Cardz Challenge #42

Hi Everybody!
SUPER excited to show you my design team card I made for challenge #42 over at Cricut Cardz Challenge.  This time the challenge was to make a Halloween card (best holiday ever!) using the card feature on any cartridge.  After flipping through a couple of the handbooks for ideas, I decided to use Tie the Knot, and Happy Hauntings.  Frankenstein is my favorite Halloween character, and I thought it would be cool to make a wedding invite for my two favorite ghouls!  Here's what I came up with:

*I used my Gypsy to lay this all out.  Card base and inside cut @ 4.25".
*The card is from Tie the Knot (envelope on p. 72 using the invitation feature, the inside card on p.57 also using the invitation feature)
*The green patterned paper I used was white on the other side, and I wanted black, so I used the cut on p. 71 using the invitation feature and glued that to the inside back of the envelope (sorry, forgot to take a picture of that!)
*paper = DCWV shimmer pack, and My Mind's Eye
*fiber from my stash

*purple Stickles along the top of inside card, crystal Stickles on Frankie's neckbolt
*You can pull the inside out to write a message.

I put them close together so they could be holding hands! Awww, how ghoulishly romantic <3
*I used the Happy Hauntings cart. Frankie on p.30, and the bride on p.31.
*Frankie was cut @ 2.67", and the lovely bride was cut @ 2.55".
*

Thanks so much for looking, and don't forget to head over to the Cricut Cardz Challenge to enter your project!

Halloween Hop Highlight-Inking It Up Crazy

Hi Everybody!
The next blog in the Halloween Hop Highlight countdown is Inking It Up Crazy.  Here are some words she lives by:

"Creation brings deep satisfaction and fulfillment. We develop ourselves and others when we take unorganized matter into our hands and mold it into something of beauty...You may think you don’t have talents, but that is a false assumption, for we all have talents and gifts, every one of us. What you create doesn’t have to be perfect. Don’t let fear of failure discourage you. Don’t let the voice of critics paralyze you—whether that voice comes from the outside or the inside. If you still feel incapable of creating, start small. Try to see how many smiles you can create, write a letter of appreciation, learn a new skill, identify a space and beautify it."

Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Kassidy has really unique, cute cards, does giveaways, has guest designers, and great videos.  Check her out, and be sure to come back and see us for the Halloween Hop!

Family Friday

Hi Everybody!
For this Family Friday, I wanted to show how to make some extra storage for our kids craft supplies.  I am a huge fan of re-using stuff, and I love to save my Cricut cartridge boxes.  I have been finding more, and more uses for them.  I made a game box using one, and here I used one to make a crayon box for my daughter (I actually made two of these, one each for my 6 and 8 year old).

These are SUPER simple to make. You just cover the outside with paper, and embellish.  That's it!  Since the inside is white and plain, it makes it easier to embellish, or leave plain to match everything.  Thanks for joining me for another Family Friday :o)  Don't forget to link your projects you make for or with the kids in your life!  Hope everyone has a chance to craft today!
