Update Hop!!

Hi Everybody!
Welcome to the (very) last minute Update Hop!  I wanted to throw together a quick hop to show some projects you could make with the new (or new to you) carts in the latest update for the Gypsy.  Some other crazy ladies agreed to do this with me, so here is the lineup:

http://www.caramiller.com/
http://www.craftyscentiments.com/

And now for my project! Today also happens to be my husband's birthday, so I decided to use the new Smiley cart to make him a card.  And can I just say, there are so many SUPER DUPER cute images on this cart that I think my head exploded!!  Here are the details:

* card base 6" x 6" with Stampin' Up cardstock
*Post-It Paper used for image, layers, and sentiment
*image and layers cut @ 3.75"
*MS border punch
*Pink by Design sentiment from Take the Cake set on the inside:

Growing old is mandatory,
Growing up is optional

That's it! This card only took me about 20 minutes to put together, from design to done.  Using this paper helps a ton in saving time.

BLOG CANDY!!

As a quick little prize, if you do all the stops on the hop (there are only 6), you can win 10 3" cuts from the new Smiley cart!  So if you don't have a Gypsy, this would be a great prize so you can still get cuts from this cart!  If you do have a Gypsy, then these cuts will show you what this cart can do too!!  The winner can tell me what theme they would like.  To enter:

*If you like the projects, please become a follower (you don't have to, only if you like the projects and want to see more!!)

Family Friday Crazy Crew #2!!

Hi Everybody!
SUPER excited today to get to introduce Crazy Crew #2 of my awsome Family Friday Designers.  Here's a little bit about them, followed by their project they made (You can click on their names to go to their blogs!)

***Bonus projects from Crazy Crew #1 coming later today!***

Crazy Crew Member #6 - Erika Valdez

I am married ( 11years now), I have 5 kiddos 2 girls and 3 boys ages 12, 10. 7. 5, and a very hyper 1 year old lol. I have a neice and nephew, they are the joy in my life!!

I have been crafting for about 5 years now, it started with scrapbooking then when I became a preschool teacher I began to make things to decorate my classroom and bulletin boards, I was so good at it that they had me doing it for all the centers!! But it really took off when I got the love of my life lol the cricut!!

I am in my 2nd year of college to become an art teacher, It involves two things I love kids and creating!!

Me and my children are very close and I enjoy spending time with them, in the summer we would sit at the table for hours with the cricut and they would go crazy and make things from cards to decorating folders etc. Everytime I sit down to create something they all sit and watch and give their suggestions. My Hubby even entered MOMO's Hubby challenge and my oldest daughter helped me make a card for a challenge, she has actually become my crafting sidekick! I have decided that for each project I will have one of my children help me create it! I am always so super busy and this will give me a chance to have some one on one time with each of them! ( yes even my baby boy is going to help, look for the project with a chewed corner!!)

Here's Erika's first DT projects (go to her blog for all the details on these amazing projects!!):

Crazy Crew Member #7 - Nicole

My name is Nikki I am a stay at home mom of 2 awesome kids, a 13yr old daughter and 3yr old son. I have been crafting since 2006, when my son was born a friend gave me a babys 1st year scrap book and that's how all the madness began. We have a family office/craftroom which is our favorite room in the house and we tend to spend a lot of time in together wether it's working on individual projects, crafting together or reading.

Here's Nicole's amazing project:

Crazy Crew Member #8 - Abby

Hello all, I am Abby from Scrapbookaholic By Abby! I have been scrapbooking for many years but it was last year that I took it VERY seriously! I love this art!! To me this is what it is. I love blogging also... can you tell?! I am a Spanish teacher but currently stay at home full time!!! I have been married for 15 years this December! He is such a wonderful man that supports my hobby! My four children are one of my main inspirations. I have a 13, an 11, a 9 and a beautiful princess of almost three!

I accepted with joy to be part of this team because my kids love art! Specially my 9 year old. I am sure we will have many fun projects for you!

Here's Abby's great project:

Crazy Crew Member #9 - Raven

OKay so...I have been crafting with paper for almost two years now. My
"old" favorite mediums were yarn and paint. My hubby and I have four
amazing kids together! Family is everything in our house so the kids
are involved with just about everything. They have their own section
in the craft room including their own table, embellishment center, and
paper section (which is a hot mess most of the time). But, I know that
I can't be clean and creative and so they have some leeway there. All
of my kids are extremely creative and they teach me things daily that
I thought I knew. I LOVE IT!

Here is Raven's super cute project:

Crazy Crew Member #10-Rhonda

I am a stay at home grandma of two little girls. The oldest is four she is my little crafting partner so much fun. The other is our organizer ha. I have been married for twenty-eight years to a wonderful man. I have two sons 27 and 25. I have been crafting since high school. I just started crafting with my cricut two years ago and just havent stopped. I love it so much.

I am so thrilled to be apart of the family design team. I hope it will encourage everyone to spend time crafting with the little ones they love it.

Here is Rhonda's great project:

There you go!! I am so super proud to be working with these ladies!!  TFL, and hope everyone had a chance to craft today!!

http://creativecraftin.blogspot.com/

Ok, now that we FINALLY have all the business stuff taken care of, let's get on to the project and prizes!!
For my project, I decided to make an 80's themed layout.  Here's what I came up with:

*Indie cart (tape)
*Cosmo Cricket background paper
*Letters were stickers from my stash
*blue paper from my stash
*Green, red, and blue paper is Post-It Craft paper

*Here are some interesting facts from the 1980's and now:

*I wanted to give the photo mats an 80's acid wash look, so I wadded up the paper in my hand.  Then I took a white ink pad and lightly rubbed it over the top of the blue paper.  I was really happy with how it came out!!

*Isn't this paper perfect for this theme?  The walkman, Atari joystick, hightops, ahhhhhh memories!!

*I wanted the letters to look like when someone doodles in their notebook.  So I stuck the sticker letters down first, then I traced around them with a black Zig marker.  This also helped the letters stand out a little bit more.

Wait, don't forget your candy!!  For this hop, you can win a mixed tape......just kidding! (But come on, you know you made them!!)  The prize for this stop in the hop are two of my favorite things....

Post-It Craft paper, and K & Company paper!! The K & Company paper is cut and scored ready to make into cards :o)

To enter to win the blog candy:
  1. Become a follower (gasp! You're not already??!!)
  2. Leave a comment with your favorite 80's song :o)

So there you go, I hope you like it!!! TFL, and now hop on over to Kassidy over at Inking It Up Crazy!!

Cricut Cardz Challenge #48

Hi Everybody!
Today is another great Cricut Cardz Challenge!!  For challenge # 48, we were to make a card for Thanksgiving, using the card feature from any cartridge we wanted, and using any colors we wanted.  I haven't made too many Thanksgiving cards (but I know I should!), so I was really excited for this challenge.  Here's what I came up with:

*Card base from Just Because.  I folded the top 1" section down.
*I used the turkey from Create A Critter,
*The sentiment from Gypsy Wanderings.
*Stamped sentiment from the Simply Everything set from Pink by Design.

*I used a book plate, and fall brads for accents.

There you go, I hope you like it!  Don't forget to come join in the challenge with us at Cricut Cardz Challenge !!

Craft Junkie Too Design Team

Hi Everybody!
Happily, today is another day for us designers on the Craft Junkie Too Design Team!!  This time Tracy wanted us to create Halloween in the Air.  I loved this "assignment", 'cause I love creating things to decorate with.  So here's what I came up with:

  • Holiday Cakes cart
  • orange vinyl
  • black Post-it Paper
  • cut with my Gypsy @ 11.47"

Here's the two pieces on the backing sheets after I cut them out in vinyl.  Ok, honesty time.  These two pieces were cut out of vinyl.  But I did not slow down enough when putting the two layers together, and the dark layer ended up getting mangled.  For the final product I used black Post-it Paper.  For people like me, this stuff is perfect because I can lift it up and reposition it as many times as I want.  It doesn't ever move, though, once you put it down.  It only moves when you lift it up again.  AWSOME stuff!!

After cutting the shapes out, make sure you take out all the positive spaces you don't want, like the doors, and insides of the windows.

Once your ready to put it on the wall, I HIGHLY recommend using transfer tape.  Just lay the transfer tape over the shape, and burnish it (rub on it firmly with the squeegee).

*Once your shape in on the transfer tape, lay it on the surface that you will be putting it on.  You should clean the surface before you put your vinyl on it, but honestly, I forgot to do that!  It's not a huge deal since this won't be up for too long, but if it's something you're putting up that will be up for a while you probably want to clean the surface so that it will be sure to stick.

*Make sure the shape is where you want it, then burnish (rub firmly) it.  This is when you get out any air bubbles in the vinyl.

*Just peel back the transfer tape sloooowly.  Make sure your shape is clinging to the window, and not still on the transfer tape before you keep pulling back.

*Taaaa-daaaa!  You now have a super cute Halloween window cling!

*Doesn't it look cute with the other Halloween decorations?!?!

There you go, I hope you like it, and don't forget to check out Tracy's blog Craft Junkie Too, she's having some fun stuff coming up!!  TFL, and hope you had a chance to craft today :o)

Introducing Family Friday Crazy Crew #1!!

Hi Everybody!
I am so excited for today's post!  Today I get to introduce Team #1 (Crazy Crew #1) from my newly picked Family Friday Design Team!  I had announced who they were a couple of weeks ago, but today they will tell you a little bit about themselves.  Here we go!

Crazy Crew Member #1: Kassidy Thomas

My name is Kassidy and I am ADDICTED to crafting. I do it full-time and keep really busy with my etsy business. I have been crafting since I was 12 and got my cricut a few years ago and the rest is history. I am mainly a cricut crafter but I also love to do other crafty things. I started a crafting blog in August where I offer tutorials, videos, challenges and giveaways:) I post new creations daily.  I live in Utah (born and raised) I have been married for 6 years and have no kids yet. So needless to say... I do a lot of crafting.

(Even though she doesn't have kids yet, I think her style is very kid friendly.  And it's perfect for others who also don't have kids yet themselves, but still may need kid friendly projects for nephews, nieces, etc.)  Here's is Kassidy's first project as a Family Friday Designer!

Crazy Crew Member #2: Cheryl Gaffney

My name is Cheryl Gaffney. I live in Vancouver, WA with mywonderful family. I am a SAHM to two wonderful boys, Bryce is 8 and Owen is 5. My lovely Husband, Roy works hard so that I can keep up with crafting, you know how important hobbies are!! I started crafting hardcore when I purchased my Cricut Expression in April. I just started my blog, CardsbyCG.blogspot.com in late July of 2010, just one month after I opened a little Etsy store! I am proud to say that I handcraft a birthday card for each member of both my family and my husband's family (including cousins, aunts, uncles etc.). I'd like to think that the cards end up in some cherished place of honor, but who knows. :) I'd love to share my crafting journey with you! Here's is Cheryl's first project as a Family Friday Designer!

(I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these ghosts!! Cheryl totally got the "spirit" for Family Friday!!)

Crazy Crew Member #3: Sharon Littrell

I have been crafting almost all my life (at least that is how it feels LOL) My mom was a cub scout leader and I can remember helping her get ready for all of their meetings. Oh, there were so many different crafts they had to do. As I got older my crafting style changed many, many times. I am still surprised when I look back at my daughters baby book (from 1998) how much scrap booking has changed in such a short time. I really love to make crafts over scrap booking. I can't tell you how many photos I have on my computer that have never been printed. I love making cards and any other paper projects that I can use my Cricut with. I do have to say I truly LOVE my Cricuts!! Yes I said Cricuts. I have 2 Momma bugs and 1 baby bug. And in my house everyone always wants to use a different cart so, they do come in handy. Because I LOVE my Gyspy to much to let it out of my sight. LOL

My husband (Mike) and I have 2 daughters. Emily is 10 and Michaela is 12 (and growing up way to fast). I also volunteer A LOT at both school so, I see lots of children every day and love to get them involved with any art project I can. We don't have any art classes because of budget cuts. So, the teachers love when I can come up with something simple for them to do. My daughters love to craft with me. When any holiday is coming up the fist question I always get is "mom what can we make to give out to the kids" Right now we are working on our Halloween treats. That is our project for this weekend. The picture I have included is me any my lovely baby girls.

Crazy Crew Member #4: Becky Teichmiller

Hi, I'm Becky Teichmiller! My boyfriend, now hubby, bought me my first album when we went shopping at Michael's 9 years ago... little did he know what he was getting me into ;) I have been scrapbooking/crafting ever since. And we also managed to have 4 kids in that period of time too! My kids are 8, 6, 4 and 2... Caytlynn, Cassidy, Cullen and Cali, we call her "The Smoosh"! All of my kids, including my boy, love arts and crafts! And they think that my Cricut (Cali calls it the kick-wit) is the bomb diggity! So I never feel bad when I want to scrapbook because I know my kids are more than happy to join me :) I am anxious to get started on our first project as are my kiddos!

Crazy Crew Member #5: Christel Bonner

Hello fellow scrappers! I’m Christel a.k.a. Scrappin’ Sista and I currently reside in Roanoke, VA with my DH and our four children. Due to my DH’s job, we move a lot and will probably move again next summer. We just moved here from Charlotte, NC. Daylon our oldest is 13 years old and is in the 8th grade. The biggest new thing with him (no pun intended) is that and wears a size 14 shoe. He’s going to need a job soon. Christen is 8 years old and a dancer and artist. She is definitely the shyest of the bunch. Danita is 7 years old and battles autism. She is a phenomenal artist and I’m going to have to include some of her artwork in a project real soon. Then comes Caleb. He’s 5 years old and you will soon learn that he’s the spiciest of them all. He started kindergarten this year. Lord knows, my quiver is full.

My DH got me hooked on scrapbooking when he created my first album for me for Christmas in 2004. I remember it clearly because he would sneak off on Saturdays and I was pregnant with Caleb. You know the hormones were raging. Every since he presented me with the beautiful gift of love, I have been hooked. I have recently started creating cards as well as altered projects. I think my favorite thing to do though is create LO’s. My style is clean yet edgy with a touch of whimsy.
Until last year, I was a teacher. I have taught 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. I enjoy teaching but with the DH’s job, it’s hard getting a job. So, I am at home until the afternoons when I work at the local Boys and Girls’ Club as a Recreation Specialist and a tutor.
I am super excited to be a part of the Crazy About Cricut Family Fridays Design Team. I can’t wait. I currently serve on the design teams for Scrap, Stamp, and Doodle Saturdays and Cooking with Cricut. I look forward to seeing all your creations for the challenges. Most importantly, I want to see us involve our children and make connections that will last a lifetime. Let’s inspire one another! Here's is Cheryl's first project as a Family Friday Designer!(She's been such a great supporter of Family Friday's from the beginning, SO excited she's on the team!!)

A couple of the designers got too busy with there families to have projects for this week, so come back next week to see what they came up with and to meet Crazy Crew #2!!    TFL, and hope everyone had a chance to craft today!

Peachy Keen Challenge

Hi Everybody!
I'm so happy to FINALLY be able to make something for a challenge.  This is for the Peach Keen Stamps Challenge.  The challenge was to create an element for gift wrapping.  I wanted to make some sort of wrapping paper.  So after playing around a bit, this is what I came up with:

*I used my new favorite PK set Laffy Taffy Faces set to stamp on a vellum strip.
*I used StazOn jet black ink.
*I used my new favorite sentiment stamp set Take the Cake by Pink By Design to stamp a border.  Because they are acrylic, I was able to bend it a bit to give the border some "movement".

*Another favorite Post-it Craft Paper!!
*I used a Marth Stewart border punch. I love this punch!!

That's it! Hope you like it!  TFL, and hope everyone had a chance to craft today!
