Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday and I every year I get so excited to decorate, get dressed up, and let's not forget the candy.....oh, all that delicious candy.....mmmmmmm :) Ok, sorry, I have a bit of a sweet tooth :P My kids love Halloween just as much as I do, which makes celebrating Halloween all that much better! And I know in the future that they will have good Halloween memories.
I'm SO EXCITED to be hosting my first blog hop. Thank you so much to the 9 other super talented ladies who agreed to do this hop with me! After you check out my ghoulish graves project, be sure to please become a follower, and leave a comment to be entered to win Gypsy Magic, the new DVD by Emma at My Creative Time. Emma's DVD is really, really awsome and has some of the cutest projects ever! She's also offering free shipping for a limited time. The prize pack also includeds 2 embossing folders, the A2 size Disney Tricks and Treats Die/Emboss Combo, and A2 size Disney Halloween Die/Emboss Combo. Now that's some candy!!
Ok, now on to the projects :) For my first project, I made some grave stones to decorate your porch (for example) or somewhere outside. Here's the recipe:
*All cuts made with the Happy Hauntings cartridge
*All graves were cut @ 17 1/4"
*Frankie title cut @ 16 1/2"
*M.T title and Willie cut @ 17"
*12 x 24 paper = Provo Craft, and K & Co
*Glo Away Glow in the Dark Gel by Plaid
*bling
*Stickles
I taped some dowels on the back, and just stuck them into the ground. I also taped posterboard to the back to make them more stable, and since it's on the back you can't see it.
I painted glow-in-the-dark paint on the letters, so they would give off an eeeeery glow at night! I was so bummed that I couldn't get this to show in a picture 'cause it looks so cool!
The raven is part of the base layer, so it was cut out on the patterned paper. I layed it out on my gypsy so that it only cut out the raven, then attached it to the base layer. I also taped a thin stick behind the raven to give him more stability.
For my second project, I made one of the skulls from the Rock Princess cartridge. I really loved these skulls, because they didn't look like the traditional skulls. I made this on the "baby bug". So many of us have the Expression, and I want owners of the original Cricut to know that they can make these kinds of projects too. I used my Gypsy, and I think the Gypsy goes fantastic with the little bug. It really let's you get your cuts as big as possible, and get the most out of your paper. Here's the recipe:
*Rock Princess cartridge
*skull cut @ 5 1/2"
*paper = Martha Stewart, DCWV
*Stickles
*bling
I didn't intend for this to go outside, but when I put the graves outside, the skull looked like it fit right in! I decided to use Stickles instead of cutting out the layers. You could make a bunch of these and make a creepy hanging creation, or just stick them up on your wall.
There you go, I hope you liked my projects!! Don't forget, to be entered for the awsome blog candy:
