Welcome to the 80's Blog Hop!

Hi Everybody!
I was so honored when my friend Raven asked me to be a part of a blog hop to celebrate her birthday.  She's an 80's child so she decided to have an 80's hop! You should have come from Debbie's blog over at Scrap by Debbie.   If you didn't, please go to Raven's blog over at Love 4 Stamps to start from the beginning of the hop.  And in case you get lost, or need to stop in the middle of hopping, here is the line up:

Ok, now that we FINALLY have all the business stuff taken care of, let's get on to the project and prizes!!
For my project, I decided to make an 80's themed layout.  Here's what I came up with:

*Indie cart (tape)
*Cosmo Cricket background paper
*Letters were stickers from my stash
*blue paper from my stash
*Green, red, and blue paper is Post-It Craft paper

*Here are some interesting facts from the 1980's and now:

*I wanted to give the photo mats an 80's acid wash look, so I wadded up the paper in my hand.  Then I took a white ink pad and lightly rubbed it over the top of the blue paper.  I was really happy with how it came out!!

*Isn't this paper perfect for this theme?  The walkman, Atari joystick, hightops, ahhhhhh memories!!

*I wanted the letters to look like when someone doodles in their notebook.  So I stuck the sticker letters down first, then I traced around them with a black Zig marker.  This also helped the letters stand out a little bit more.

Wait, don't forget your candy!!  For this hop, you can win a mixed tape......just kidding! (But come on, you know you made them!!)  The prize for this stop in the hop are two of my favorite things....

Post-It Craft paper, and K & Company paper!! The K & Company paper is cut and scored ready to make into cards :o)

To enter to win the blog candy:
  1. Become a follower (gasp! You're not already??!!)
  2. Leave a comment with your favorite 80's song :o)

So there you go, I hope you like it!!! TFL, and now hop on over to Kassidy over at Inking It Up Crazy!!

  3. LOVE your layout! The washed out denim looking mats are like totally awesome! I'm bummed that there's no mixed tape 'candy' but scrapbook supplies are almost as fabulous :-) Thanks for the walk down memory lane this morning- too fun! There is way too much fantastic music to choose just one favorite but in the top for me is anything Duran Duran- especially Hungry Like the Wolf. My new ear worm for the day!!!

  5. I love the 80's and your project is perfect! I love all 80s music. I loved the techno beat, and the strong rhythm to dance to. Plus back then, you could actually sing along with most songs. hahaha When I was a Freshman in highschool (1980 - gasp,) I loved Billy Joel's "It's Still Rock and Roll to me". Loved Michael Jackson (he was still black then - I'm just sayin'), loved Madonna, QUEEN! (another one bites the dust and Whip it and We are the Champions), Van Halen (with David Lee Roth before Sammy Hagar), PRINCE - we'd cruise around with our Prince tape (yes tape, not CD), Painted sweatshirts, leg warmers, shirts hanging off one shoulder, BIG hair, shiny makeup, tight pants up to your bellybutton,.... good times - good times. And now you've got "8679 309" stuck in my head. Thanks. hahahaha :) Janis northrose@slowar.com

  111. I'm a follower (already, I know!)... and my favorite song from the 80's? hmm... which genre am I going to pick? Ok - hard rock - would be White Snake - Is This Love... "Regular" music would have to be Blondie - Call me!... Alternative would have to be Depeche Mode - Blasphemous Rumors. Whew! And then there were MORE!

  113. I love that paper.

That is just an unfair question. There are so many good 80s songs. The one that is stuck in my head at the moment is Wild Wild West by The Escape Club.

  114. Cool layout. I'm a teacher and one character in a book we were reading talked about a walk man. All my students were like, "What's a walk man?" While explaining... I said cassette and got the same questions. Man... I felt old :) My favorite 80's song would have to be... Like a Virgin
